At BACK TO BASICS, we encourage independence as it is crucial for children to think independently. This way they learn to be self reliant, confident, and also to develop a feeling of self worth and identity. Children are also encouraged to be team players through sharing and cooperating with others in their various group activities.
Our teachers will always hold your child’s hand every step of the way but allow them to be independent.
The children are introduced to various elements that are geared towards helping them meet their developmental milestones. These include language arts where the little ones are coached on phonics, recognition of sound and name. The child is also taught how to recognize short consonants and vowels. They are coached on how to recognize blending of sounds, reading of stories, and sentences with vowels. Our caring teachers lead the children all the way through and pay extra attention to any who may be lagging behind. Poetry also forms a major addition to the curriculum at this age.
Group activities and time is a great way for the children to make friends, express their true feelings and interact positively. Physical education is highly encouraged. Your preschool prince/ princess will be prepped and ready for kindergarten with the help of our A-beka program, which covers the major developmental areas and also introduces Christian components that teach children to be kind and show love to their friends.
Our center has adopted the Texas Rising Star approach to activity centers, that encourage children to self-select what they prefer to engage or play with during dedicated center periods built into their daily schedules. This allows children start to build self-autonomy and start to identify areas of personal interest, that will serve as building blocks to what they choose to spend time on as they grow older.
